Keoni Tom-Millare
Tattoos:
As I took my first glimpse at my friend Keoni's new tattoo during football, I was astonished and amazed on how nice and beautiful it was done. It was done by needle and I had to ask him, "what does it mean?" I remember him telling me
"It has my amakua which basically mean like my family symbols through animals, my family symbols are the shark and the gecko, then there's 3 faces 2 of which looks like one and is a combination of my face and my dads, then the 3rd one is just me, there is also a symbol called lauhala matts meaning family"
It really touched my heart to know that Keoni got this tattoo not just for show; but that he got it to show the love and special meaning behind his family amakua.

Keoni has yet also another tattoo, but to define it does not take that long. I first saw this tattoo when i moved up to varsity football; and I thought it was so cool and interesting. It was this single tattoo, that got me started and made me more infatuated with the culture behind Polynesian tattoos.
I asked Keoni over Facebook what his tattoo meant, he briefly summarized it as his family and his life story. He told me that each part of the tattoo has different symbolic meanings, but when added all up, it resembles his family and his whole life story.

Colton Salvador
Tattoo:
My friend Colton, who also plays for the same football team recently got a tattoo the past year. I thought it was both very modernistic and cultural. The designs are a little bit different then Keoni's and has a similar yet different meaning.
He told me that it meant that he is Hawaiian with many other nationalities, and with all of these races, it makes him one person and that person is him. The Hawaiian Islands represent that no matter where he goes, he will always know and will never forget where he came from. It represents who he is and that he will always remember his roots.
